The Internal Auditor is responsible for assisting the internal audit team in assessing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and processes in place at the company and making recommendations for improvement.


  • Participate in the annual process around internal controls over financial reporting (SOX 404).
  • Complete the evaluation of design and operating effectiveness of SOX 404 key controls.
  • Plan and perform audit mandates assigned (financial, operations, special projects).
  • Complete audit mandates (including operational audits) in accordance with audit standards.
  • Participate in reviewing the Company's different operating processes and suggest modifications designed to increase efficiency, performance and results.
  • Participate in the review of systems in place to ensure that they allow for internal controls that are effective and cost-efficient.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to management regarding internal controls, process and system efficiency and risk management.
  • Prepare audit reports.
  • Follow-up on the implementation of action plans agreed to in audit.


  • Minimum of 2 years of auditing experience.
  • Degree in Accounting/Management/Finance combined with an accounting or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation - or in the process to obtain the designation.
  • Knowledge of the COSO Framework.
  • Experience in the retail industry is desirable.


  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on multiple projects.
  • Working knowledge of SOX 404.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, reasoning skills and communication skills.
  • Professionalism, integrity and sound professional judgment.
  • Availability to travel to perform audit mandates in Canada and USA
