The primary function of the surgical scheduler is to schedule all surgeries for the patients of the department/division.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Schedules operative case with the OR at JHN or Gibbon along with scheduling the patient's PAT date
  • Accurately documents all information related to surgical cases in Epic and on the appropriate calendars
  • Responds to messages related to the surgical cases in a timely and professional manner
  • Obtains the correct ICD 10 and CPT codes to obtain prior authorization from the patients' Health Insurance Plans.
  • Obtain pre-certifications and approvals for all surgeries to be scheduled
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson .


Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS :
  • High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
  • Previous experience as surgical scheduler preferred. Must have prior experience in healthcare setting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
  • Prior EPIC experience preferred
