Vice President, HR Strategy & Program Management

Position Summary

As the VP of HR Strategy & Program Management at ABM, you will be a key member of CHRO's leadership team (HRCLT). You will be involved in all aspects of the Human Resources and Communications teams' work, including setting and executing upon people strategy, defining scalable processes for an evolving enterprise-wide HR Team, and connecting the team's work into enterprise-wide strategic projects. Daily activities may include:
  • In partnership with the HRCLT, executing on strategic projects related to the HR and Communications organization
  • Anticipating problems and clearing the path ahead of roadblocks on behalf of the HR leadership team
  • Identifying and implementing HR process improvements
  • Providing program and project management for HR and communications initiatives and annual activity
  • Collaborating with HRIS and IT teams to implement systems-based solutions for the organization
  • Setting and monitoring the cadence of the team
  • Setting the agenda for and facilitating HR leadership meetings

You will work closely with and represent the CHRO in key meetings across the organization. In order to be successful in this role, you are a high performer in your current role either as part of a world-class HR team or in a dynamic, fast-moving team environment.

Your background should include developing and executing strategies in support of organizational or enterprise-wide plans, ideally in a human resources context. Ideal candidates will have worked across and recognize the power of enterprise-wide Centers of Excellence, including Talent, Total Rewards, and Human Resources Business Partners. You will be able to articulate and accelerate the value of these teams, while helping to support total business growth. Effective program and change management will be a major aspect in your role delivering performance organization wide. You will interface daily with leaders across key ABM functions (Operations, Finance, Strategy, IT, Sales & Marketing, Legal & Safety, etc.).

Essential Duties

  • Define and implement HR strategic projects, working closely with HR leaders to effectively implement and communicate the value of those initiatives
  • Consult with Center of Excellence leaders to achieve comprehensive strategic goals and translate outcomes into tangible financial and strategic value
  • Provide strategic counsel to the CHRO and executive/senior management across the business to support implementation of key people and communications programs, in line with the company's vision and strategy
  • Evaluate existing programs and initiatives against company's strategic goals and recommend potential courses of action

Seat at the table
  • Represent the CHRO in meets with HRCLT and business partners regarding key organizational and management issues
  • Set the cadence for the HR and Communications organization, including leadership of Organizational Planning and Strategy meetings, Key HR Deliverables, program/project reviews All Hands Meetings, and HR off-sites
  • Assist in preparing materials for Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors' meetings

Process improvement
  • Tailor and implement scalable processes to support the evolving needs of HR team
  • Solicit and share feedback from enterprise-wide leaders to continually improve HR operations

  • Prepare executive presentations and ensure cohesive communication of strategy
  • Build effective communication plans to share HR programs across the enterprise

Program management
  • Coordinate budget activities, reconciliation and develop financial metrics to measure initiative success
  • Interface with Strategy & Transformation team to support enterprise-wide strategic priorities and ensure effective delivery of people-related topics
  • Manage development of operational metrics within HR organization to detect workforce trends and track progress of strategic initiatives
  • Lead project management for major, including confidential, HR projects and process

Minimum Requirements
  • BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of HR strategy experience or strategic experience in a dynamic, fast-moving environment (e.g. professional services, technology, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience navigating large complex Integrated Service focused organizations
  • Comprehensive Business and HR Acumen
  • Ability to articulate ways in which you have influenced change within dynamic organizations
  • Experience influencing senior business leaders on highly strategic topics and initiatives
  • Experiencing driving change management and process redesign efforts across complex organizations
  • Demonstrated experience leading in complex, matrixed Operations-focused organizations
  • Demonstrated project management and process improvement capabilities
  • Strong communication skills and experience interacting with the C-Suite and all levels within an organization
