Job Description

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee all maintenance department operations to ensure efficient quality operation of the physical plant. Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance and repair of building, grounds, and associated equipment. Oversees maintenance staff that installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and general maintenance.

Additionally, you will track facilities service requests and ensures requests are completed within established timelines and quality standards. Schedules and ensures completion of preventative maintenance activities. Maintains a safe and effective working environment. Trains team on policies and procedures. May coordinate work to be completed by contractors and skilled trades.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide direct daily supervision and review work of assigned departmental employees to ensure accuracy and to ensure adherence to pertinent departmental policies, practices, and procedures SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols
  • Plan, schedule and prioritize workload of group members using CMMS
  • Oversees workload, provides list and recommendations for improvements while having the ability to implement said improvements
  • Monitor regulatory compliance appropriate to areas such as plant structures and related mechanical, electrical, water, and waste operations
  • Leads troubleshooting and repair efforts on critical utilities and equipment
  • Supports Change Control, CAPA's and Deviations
  • Coordinate purchasing and contractor services for maintenance operations
  • Prepare mandated and informational reports for management review and approval
  • Oversee safety and quality practices and procedures for all maintenance work
  • Identify technical and supervisory training and development needs of direct reports. Assist in the development, implementa­tion and delivery of depart­mental training programs; ensure that direct reports receive departmental orien­tation and necessary on-the-job training. Oversee main­tenance of group training manual and training records

Additional Responsibilities
  • Monitor performance of direct reports. Provide regular coaching and counseling. Serve as mentor to entry-level supervisory staff, as necessary
  • Schedule overtime as authorized. Review and approve time cards. Coordinate vacation/time off schedules
  • Ensure optimum performance of group function. Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and communication of departmental systems and SOPs
  • Ensure that departmental equipment is maintained in good working condition and that departmental area(s) are maintained in a clean and orderly condition
  • Ability to identify potential safety hazards, LOTO requirements, and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments

Minimum Requirements

Education, Required Skills & Competencies
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in engineering or related discipline preferred. (An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed)
  • At leastfive years of prior leadership and relevant experience working in a regulated environment
  • Trade licensing and certifications preferred
  • Building Automation System and MAXIMO CMMS experience
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills
  • Must have customer service mindset
